Why do I have to pay a broker fee?
Most people look at the apartment finding process and think: “hmmmmmm, why should I pay someone to do for me what I can do for myself”. Well dear readers the answer is simple. You cannot actively look for an apartment while working a full time job and it’s pretty darn hard if you are new in town. Its 96.5% impossible, unless your boss just so happens to be your parent and you have a VERY flexible office schedule, or you are being relocated by the mayor of New York (and even then you still may need to do leg work). By the time you are ready to go out to preview the apartment, chances are it has already been rented out and several backups placed on it making it nearly impossible for you to have a fair chance. With vacancy at an all-time low the best bet is to contact a knowledgeable broker who has inside connections (exclusives). Thou it may cost a couple of bucks, In the end the outcome is much more stress free and rewarding.
